Since 1980, First Step has provided shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children, 24-hour support line, advocacy, and outreach and support programs for men, women, and children. We were the first domestic violence shelter built in the state of Ohio from the ground up 4th in the nation. At First Step, we believe that every individual has the right to live a life free of violence and abuse. We work towards our vision of creating a society where domestic violence is not tolerated, and everyone is treated with respect and dignity.

We believe that every individual has the right to live a life free of violence and abuse. At First Step, we empower victims of domestic violence and their children to embrace who they are, define their future, and take the next steps towards the rest of their lives.
